L’Espace Sauvanie is an intimate music venue and artist residency in the Dordogne, South West France — a place where musicians are given the time, space and, perhaps most importantly, the excuse to try something they might not otherwise have tried.

We invite artists from different backgrounds and disciplines to come and spend time here: writing, rehearsing, experimenting and working together. Sometimes they arrive with a fairly clear idea of what they intend to do. Sometimes the interesting part is discovering that they were completely wrong.

The results are shared in small, informal concerts in our beautiful performance space, where the audience is close, the acoustics are exceptional and there is very little distance between the people making the music and the people listening to it.

There are residencies and collaborations throughout the year, alongside our own concerts and Sauvanie Soleil, our annual summer gathering of live music, food, art and other good things.

At the heart of it all is a fairly simple idea: give talented people an interesting place to work, introduce them to other talented people, allow them enough time to see what happens — and don't interfere too much.

What happens is rarely quite what anyone expected.

Which is rather the point.
