THE SPACE
L’Espace Sauvanie sits in the Dordogne countryside, surrounded by mature gardens and open views. At its heart is a large, light-filled studio and performance space with exceptional natural acoustics, designed to work equally well for rehearsals, recording, intimate concerts and creative collaborations.
On warm days, the large doors open onto the terrace and gardens, and indoors and outdoors begin to feel like part of the same space. In the cooler months, everything draws in a little closer, creating the atmosphere of a private concert.
MUSIC SOUNDS DIFFERENT HERE …….
L’Espace Sauvanie is an intimate music venue and artist residency in the Dordogne, South West France — a place where musicians are given the time, space and, perhaps most importantly, the excuse to try something they might not otherwise have tried. We invite artists from different backgrounds and disciplines to come and spend time here: writing, rehearsing, experimenting and working together. Sometimes they arrive with a fairly clear idea of what they intend to do. Sometimes the interesting part is discovering that they were completely wrong.
The results are shared in small, informal concerts in our beautiful performance space, where the audience is close, the acoustics are exceptional and there is very little distance between the people making the music and the people listening to it. There are residencies and collaborations throughout the year, alongside our own concerts and Sauvanie Soleil, our annual summer gathering of live music, food, art and other good things.
At the heart of it all is a fairly simple idea: give talented people an interesting place to work, introduce them to other talented people, allow them enough time to see what happens — and don't interfere too much.
What happens is rarely quite what anyone expected.
Which is rather the point.
A PLACE TO MAKE MUSIC
The studio is deliberately flexible. It can be a rehearsal room in the morning, a recording or filming space in the afternoon and an intimate venue by evening.
What matters most is the sound. The room has outstanding natural acoustics, allowing musicians to work without feeling separated from the space around them — and audiences to hear performances at unusually close quarters.

UP CLOSE
L’Espace Sauvanie was never intended to put a great deal of distance between performer and audience. Concerts here are small, informal and close enough for the character of the room — and the musicians — to become part of the experience.
In summer, performances can spill out towards the terrace and gardens. At other times of year, the studio becomes a warm, intimate concert room.

BEYOND THE STUDIO
The studio sits within mature gardens with wide views across the surrounding countryside. For resident artists, the outdoor space is as much a part of Sauvanie as the room itself: somewhere to walk, talk, think, eat, swim in summer or simply stop working for a while.

USING THE SPACE…….
L’Espace Sauvanie is used for our own artist residencies, collaborations and concerts, but there may also be occasions when the space is available for other carefully matched creative projects.
If you still want to offer external hire, keep the wording selective rather than making the page read like a generic venue-hire listing.
